I think this route is a good starting place because it means the docs can 
be generated right from the source.  The programmer needs to have enough 
discipline to put the right stuff in comments to provide details, but 
it can be written down easily while you're coding.

Ahh!  Thanks for the keywords to use.  I was having very poor luck.

and apparently GNU Pic is using it.  I'll take a look and see what I 
think of it/

This one produces appears to produce LaTeX output.
