After closer look it appears I should set _XOPEN_SOURCE
the relevant infos are in <features.h>  For GNU/Linux

I've commited the fixes, you should be able to
cvs update -d -P
./autogen.sh
./configure
make
from/from
MAIL=pop://localhost from/from
