As far as TL goes, there were no releases of mpost between TL'12 and TL'13. We did not do any bug-fix binaries in 2012 (and I sincerely hope we never have to again). So all I can say is that mpost 1.802, the original TL 2013 binary, has the bug. The TL'12 version was 1.504.Thanks. So it probably makes sense to exclude 1.504 < mpost --version < 1.803 in the configure script. Julien, can you take care of that?
Hm. Missed that issue earlier. This whole thing is very suspicious in the sense that mpost 1.803 segfaults on ARM architectures (from Arch Linux' texlive-bin). The same version (as announced by the package repositories' numbers) works fine on my x86_64 Arch environment.
I placed a report under https://github.com/archlinuxarm/PKGBUILDs/issues/550since I assumed it to be an Arch Linux on ARM-only problem, but now I'm curious whether part of the bug survived... I probably won't be able to test until next week, but I'll investigate a bit more then (and probably try to contact the TeXLive gurus).
Best, Alexander
