http://code.google.com/p/lilypond/issues/detail?id=2099if it's undefined in texinfo, then why did makeinfo accept it with no fuss? I wish that programs would immediately give an error instead of accepting undefined behaviour. Web browsers are another obvious example of this.
Anyway, in this case I would rather use @verbatim. Bash prompts are complicated enough as they are; I don't want some poor documentation editor in a few years from now copying the version from the source and trying to figure out why that bash prompt doesn't work for him. And chances are that anybody working on that part of the documentation will *not* be familiar with bash, or even texinfo.
