spacing and accidental shifting

I sort of kludged a solution into CVS. The problem is that this kind
of optimization is hard to decide: you have to try them all to
determine which combination is optimal.

No. AFAIK, the space after a barline in the middle of the line is
variable. This is not related to the new accidental code.
