How about this one... The /4 comes from the old code in ltconfig
that did:
max = compute
headroom = m /4
max = max - headroom
In the end it was 3/4 the original value.. That seems safe enough
for me, and allows all of gcc's libjava to link in one step, instead
of two extra steps, thus speeding it up by what I think was around 17
minutes for just one of the extra link steps.
Let me know if sounds ok and if this goes into the tree, I want to
pull it into gcc after you ok it.
