While the compile errors you reported have nothing to do with Libtool
and the above warning it reports, it would be *really* *really* nice
if you could tell me what this command gives on your FreeBSD system:
/usr/bin/file `echo /usr/lib/libc.so.*`
Then we could fix Libtool to understand the answer to that command.
Anybody else using FreeBSD is very much encouraged to answer is
possible.
Also, I have not checked whether this is an old bug, so please report
the Libtool version that comes with that software package
(enter
$top_builddir/libtool --version
after configuring).
