I found this in libtool.m4:
AU_DEFUN([AC_PROG_LIBTOOL], [LT_INIT])
AU_DEFUN([AM_PROG_LIBTOOL], [LT_INIT])
It isn't right. AU_DEFUN is the same as AC_DEFUN. So obviously
any argument is lost (but maybe they didn't have arguments?).
You probably mean AU_ALIAS, which is basically the same as
AU_DEFUN([AC_PROG_LIBTOOL], [LT_INIT($@)])
