Two tests failing seems to be exceedingly good for current development

It is clear to me that while CVS libtool is significantly structurally
improved, much of its portability has been lost, and it is more
brittle. We need to make a major effort to re-qualify it on available
platforms.
You cannot expect that a libtool beta tester uses an unreleased
(and presumably buggy) autoconf snapshot. (I don't want to destabilize my
entire system, I only wanted to test libtool!)
It is an interesting problem. CVS libtool depends on CVS Automake
which depends on CVS Autoconf. It is a spiral which is very difficult
to get out of.
