In fact "whois.eu" displays the same flaw as "whois.arin.net" does,
which explains my difficulties with any domain in EU.

The client "whois" is by far the least thoroughly tested utility in
the collection GNU Inetutils, probably because I do not understand
it myself, nor do I use it regularly. All bug triaging of "whois"
is most welcome.
