   I have to disagree, there is even an output statement
   saying that Inetutils was arranged with autoconf-2.63,
   and that previous version might display unintended behavior.

Unless you modified configure.ac or related files, autoconf nor
automake is needed, the minimum version of autoconf that we require is
2.59 (as per configure.ac).  If we do end up using a macro that only
exists in a later version, then that is a bug.
