I'd prefer not to see a CVS version of inetutils packaged in Debian,
since it puts a extra burden on us; we would have to make sure that
the CVS version is always usable/stable.  I am planing on making a new
release very soon.

There is no burden on upstream - the right answer to distro consumers of a package who come upstream looking for help is to refer them back to the distro.
