Hey Sergey, nice to see people still lurk about!

   Notice that README-alpha is not a "checkout_only_file".  It is
   distributed with any alpha release as well (i.e. whenever the
   version number contains two dots). So, in my opinion, using it
   instead of README-hacking is a wrong move.

Maybe a better wording could be used in README-alpha?  I just don't
understand why those instructions have to be in a seperate file.
