I do not see why this change was needed.  You are just making the code
unreadable.  Could you revert it?

   I doubt if it will be possible to get rid of libresolv, however my
   guess is that dns lookups are not that critical for the needs of a
   boot disk and could be just disabled at compilation time.

I don't see why we should even bother with this.
