How about having some "imaginary" daemon that connects to inetd from various
addresses in the loopback network 127.0.0.0/8? This would you having to know
about real IP addresses and would be good enough to test the handling of
connections from multiple addresses (even if they have the same physical
source).

Who knows, maybe someday I'll some time to contribute real code, etc. to
inetutils rather than just talk. ;)
