I think, he(sergey) did it for both of his rewrites, rolgind and talkd.
But in general, who ever is writing the code get to choose the license 8-).
If it is compatible, with what the FSF defines a "Free" license. I do
not have any problem with it. So MIT/BSD style will be just has fine.

Sine inetutils is a melting pot taken from the 4.x BSD networing pool.
Rules are more relaxed.

That much code/rewrite reminds me of Marcus, when he had time to
code (syslogd/ifconfig etc .. 8-)
