I wish I could help you out, but my contributions have been limited to
wiki documentation.  Perhaps we could schedule some time to meet via the
interwebs and try to learn together. I can certainly show you how to
edit the wiki if you are interested in that.

Perhaps we could start learning together by trying to write hurd
translators in python...The Hurd currently has a somewhat working
implementation.

I live in Indianapolis time in the U.S.  What time zone are you in?
