I try to contribute in the way I can, and writing these news is the best way I 
see. I don't have the time to tackle a bigger task, but I think that the news 
can help a lot in shedding the reputation that the Hurd will never be 
finished. 

That's also one of the reasons why I only want to write about public code: I 
want to avoid anything which could hint at vaporware.

I'd say that the mailing list archives are pretty public :-) 

I added a note that the patches are in bug-hurd - and a link to the list.
