I know, and I filed it as a bug report to the gcc people.  Their response I
included in the mail you replied to, and they wanted to know if it is fixed
in gcc 3, I guess ("latest snapshot").

Well, it matters as we are still using gcc 2.95 for everything, but maybe
not much longer.  I have now two reports of it compiling with gcc 3, thanks!
