make maintainer-clean; cvs update; ./autogen.sh;
./configure --enable-maintainer-mode --with-threads; make;
su; make install prefix=/usr/local/stow/guile-1.5.4; cd /usr/local/stow;
stow guile-1.5.4
i did in source dir: make distclean && cvs update && sh -ex autogen.sh
and in another dir:
.../configure -C --enable-maintainer-mode --with-threads --enable-htmldoc
&& make && make check && make prefix=/tmp/a/b/c install
which seemed to work fine (i see libguile et al in /tmp/a/b/c/lib).
