Mmmm....
How about changing the sentence to read:
"This function solves the square system Ax = b using the QR decomposition of
A held in (QR, tau) which must have been computed previously with
gsl_linalg_QR_decomp."

Thanks for the suggestion. I have changed the wording to "... given by
gsl_linalg_QR_decomp as input" to try to make it clearer.
