Hi, I like to report bugs and help, but how could this not be so obvious
as to have gone unnoticed..? So I hate to waste your time too, but..
I type: grub-mkconfig -v .. here's a simple copy-paste:
derry@AI8:~/Desktop$ grub-mkconfig -v
Unrecognized option `-v'
Usage: grub-mkconfig [OPTION]
Generate a grub config file
-o, --output=FILE output generated config to FILE [default=stdout]
-h, --help print this message and exit
-v, --version print the version information and exit
Report bugs to <bug-grub@gnu.org>.
derry@AI8:~/Desktop$
isn't that supposed to mean -v will print the version information and
exit? The version is displayed with the long --version as:
grub-mkconfig (GRUB) 2.04-1ubuntu26.9
Here's my uname -a ... and the basics:
root@AI8:/home/derry/Desktop# uname -a
Linux AI8 5.8.0-44-generic #50~20.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Feb 10 21:07:30
UTC 2021 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Intel® Core™ i7 CPU 980 @ 3.33GHz × 12
Graphics: NV20 (Old MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti)
Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS (64bit)
GNOME 3.36.8 on X11
apt, apt-get, and Synaptic all say up to date.
Feel free if I missed anything to ask away... Sorry if it's something
obvious I missed, it happens. Should I go to Grub2? Don't really know
what the diff is.
(PS - same results using root, checked, just in case)
Thank you for your time!
Andrew
