also the FAQ question: 

"10. How to boot Windows (or DOS) from a non-first disk?

Use the command map, to exchange BIOS drives virtually, like this:

grub> map (hd0) (hd1)
grub> map (hd1) (hd0)"

I suggest adding the following text for clarification. I stumbled over this,
thinking that since I had 'remapped' the drives, I had to change the
rootnoverify line too. See below for my recommended addition to manual and
faq:

"One important thing to remember is that it is unnecessary at this point to
change the rootnoverify (hd1,0) line to read (hd0,0).. leave it as it is, as
if you had not done the map command to begin with."
