Grub Hide & Partition ID Issues |

Hello Bug-Grub,
I'm not a super Grub user but I have one big issue
with Grub I was hoping someone would help me out with.
First of all, why does the hide command just increase your partition type by
10? For example if you had a partition type of 83, issuing: hide (hd0,1) would
turn it into a type 93 partition. A type 5 extended partition would be changed
to a type 15 partition.
Secondly, how do you hide a partition from Windows XP? I've found that Windows
XP will not assign partitions drive letters during setup if they're set to a
specific type. Example: settype (hd0,1) 0xDE will prevent the Windows XP setup
from assigning your first partition as C: where as: hide (hd0,1) will not do
this successfully. I've hidden partitions in the past using Partition Magic,
Randish Partition Manager and XOSL which have successfully worked in this
circumstance.
Sincerely,
Rob Elm
