I noticed that there is a new etherboot out (5.0.7), which includes an
updated sis900 driver from Linux 2.4.17. I very crudely hacked this updated
driver into grub, and it gets much closer to success, but still fails:

Probing...[SIS900]Found SIS900 ROM address 0xff00

sis900_probe: MAC addr 00:D0:09:E4:99:EE at ioddr 0XD400
sis900_probe: Vendor:0X1039 Device:0X0900
sis900_probe: AMD 79C901 10BASE-T PHY transceiverfound at address 1.
sis900_probe: Using AMD 79C901 10BASE-T PHY as default
amd79c901_read_mode: Media Link On 10mbps full-duplex

Error 12: Invalid device requested

So I imagine that this could work if etherboot 5.0.7 were correctly merged
in. Are there any plans or work in progress in this area, or shall I give
it a try?
