Cannot install grub in linux-shell version of grub

Hi,again!

I wrote some weeks ago about troubles with installing grub under
linux-shell version of grub.(0.5.98).It works properly with
standart ide-disks.

I tried to install grub to logical disk  of Compaq SCSI Smart Array 5300
RAID controller(cciss.o).
I used "install" command.
        /sbin/grub
        root (...)
        install ... and etc.
But I got an error:22 NO SUCH PARTITION

The most interesting thing was,that it worked,if
i used it from command-line of boot version of grub.

You said that I should to use "setup" command.
I made some additional tests,but got the same error.

(Seems there is the same problems with Compaq Smart Array 4200
(cpqarray.o))

I also tested one of the lasted versions of lilo(21.7.5).It was installed
properly.

I hope that information contained in  log-files will help you(they
contain my system configuration and debug-data,which I got during
running grub(in linux)). Can be this caused by  devfs? Or that is a
bug of kernel(2.4.9). I returned hardware,So I only wanted to make report.
