Hi!
Is there a way to pass the information retrieved via bootp as linux kernel
commandline?
This would eliminate the need to have linux do bootp itself. Why do I want
to avoid this? there is no usable userspace bootp client for linux 2.2.x
and there is no way to use the kernel bootp client when loading network
drivers from initrd. Even if there is a usable bootpc, initrd won't be
able to pass the rootnfs paramters to the kernel. Why modular network
drivers? Because of two reasons: use the right one out of
tulip/old_tulip/de4x5 and select what becomes eth0 in a multihomed machine
booted though network for recovery (different cards of course).
