Well, *I* think it's a bug in the compiler

The compiler errors returned when a back-hack-extended #define
contains DOS EOLs seems to me to be a bug. Just about all our
products cross-compile to Windows and Solaris, and you can argue with
me until you're blue in the gills, but I will never agree that vi is
much of an editing solution compared to the editors available under
Windows. (I realize that a lot of primitive cultures think that
Emacs and vi came directly from the gods, but most of us in the 21st
century have found better editors--or perhaps better gods.) So most
of the files are going to have DOS EOLs in them and it seems to me
just for the sake of COURTESY that the compiler should add ASCII 13
to the definition of white space.
