I tripped on this one. Albeit you can call by value - apparently it is not possible to receive parameters By Value (the called code turtles on the Procedure Division Using.) /SIMON/VFILE1.COB:96: warning: handling of parameters passed BY VALUE is unfinished; implementation is likely to be changed. I have a "mixed" case use. Parameters in CBL_OPEN_VFILE / CLOSE_VFILE are called by reference. 3 of the 4 parameters in CBL_READ_VFILE / WRITE_VFILE are called by Value. I can't figure out a Cobol process to resolve this issue - especially if I do not want to change the original application Cobol source. Any ideas ? Any guess as to when it BY VALUE will be available by a called program ? Please advise. Thanks, Bruce Zupek |
