GnuBg 1.04 has evidently switched back to the old-style IDs that use a
colon. Here is an example of what you get when you press Ctrl+C (in
Windows):

mOvgAQawc/AAJg:cAkKAAAAAAAE

GnuBg 1.02 used the newer style:

Position ID: mOvgAQawc/AAJg
Match ID: cAkKAAAAAAAE

Is this a change that was intentional?

It appears this change was intentional. The ChangeLog references this bug:

https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?27716

It appears that the decision was made for the interest of remaining
compatible with other software that the original form was better.
Question would be whether we should add an option to change this
behavior? And if so is there a reason why the multiline form is
preferred (ie. easier for a human to read).

I'm not sure why a human would read this kind of id.

Maybe, if the information was split differently, with the position as a money game (with dice, cube position and value) in one part and, when relevant, the match information in the other, then being able to easily isolate the former could be useful ?

As it is, the Position Id alone is seldom useful, the Match ID alone even less.
