Thanks.  I installed the new code and noticed that it placed the gnubg folder
under "Program Files (x86)" rather than just "Program Files" where the older
code resides.  I made sure I was running the new copy and observed the exact
same behavior - you can play a game and get hints, but once you analyze it
or save it, the GUI produces a very garbled view of it that you cannot
navigate.  I haven't tried to see if the CLI code works properly or not.

The computer I'm using was new in 2009 and has had no updates to it.  It has
an AMD Athlon II Dual Core M300 processor (2 GHz 3G RAM).  The OS is Windows
7 Home Premium.  Curiously, the program saves .sgf files to "Program Files",
not "Program Files (x86)" where the software resides.
