Doesn't sound perfect then :)

It's all fine for me here, so it's almost definitely your graphics card driver.
Try disabling hardware acceleration to test this. Then fiddle with some of the
openGL settings for the driver. Also try testing reducing your screen
resolution (and colour depth) and/or the size of gnubg window.

With a bit of luck some of that might remove your problem.
