This is not specific to your build, I have the same inconveniences on a unix (FreeBSD) build, except the overlapping.

This is not that recent either, for me it started a few months ago. I was under the impression that you did builds more frequently than that, so it may be related to a change in something else (gtk ?) that happened on my system earlier than on yours.

With the default size, the best move is unreadable. The problem is mostly with the square window. If its width were for instance 150% of its height, the fonts would look much better.

Another inconvenience is that the move is smaller and the equity larger. Given the choice, I'd prefer the opposite : I more often look at these maps for the best move, and for the equity there is always the color grade at the bottom.
