Thanks for the reply, Jonathan Kinsey.

You describe an interesting project (more than what I had in mind).  Yes,
I'd think it would be desirable and useful to have the board display
separate, and yes, anything using it would be open source.  To tackle it,
I'd need to know:

    > Where's the python code that deals with the GUI for the board...
    > Where's the C code?
    > (refs to SPECIFIC locations of code WITHIN Python and C source?)

What I come up with would probably NOT doevetail into the CURRENT version 
of gnubg, but COULD be used in future vs.   And it would certainly be in 
the spirit of open source to have your excellent board separately 
available.
