Are you asking whether gnubg can be made to play weaker than the current
"beginner" setting?
You can adjust the noise setting to a larger value than 0.06, which is
the beginner setting.
The basic level of play is "expert". Lower playing settings are achieved
by randomly adding the "noise" value to the evaluations, making gnubg
sometimes randomly think an inferior play is best.
This works to an extent, but the errors it makes are random, rather than
the systematic errors a human beginner might make. Therefore it is not a
good approximation of poor human play.
