Hi all,

I'm back from Torino where GnuBG has just won the 2006 Computer Olympics
Backgammon "tournament", defeating it only opponent, BGBlitz by Frank
Berger. Final score is 3-1 (best of 5 1matches, 15pts each), with
individual scores of 3-15, 16-12, 15-8 and 17-13.

I'll try to write down a more detailed report with Frank (we have to
do it for ICGA anyway), in the while I have the analysed matches
online at www.gnubg.org (Supremo, g11 met) and some pictures (asap).

      http://www.gnubg.org/media/Torino2006.zip

For the records, BGBlitz is truly strong: it has been rated by gnubg
analysis in the 4 matches as 1997.4, 2004.5 2035.1 and 2025.4 (FIBS
rating) and in the first two matches, Frank used by mistake the "old"
engine (winning one of them anyway).

MaX.

P.S.
I've got a medal that I don't deserve givem my contribution to gnubg.
If anybody more involved in the project is coming to Cannes/MonteCarlo
in July (3 major tournaments), I'll be happy to meet and to pass the
medal to a more legitimate owner :)) Achim ? Oystein ? Joern ? ...
