I can successfully build a mac/osx/ppc build with sound and 3d graphics
(With one very serious issue - which has existed since Panther).

There are a number of little things that have to be tweaked to the
configuration data, after you pull out the sources however one can
successfully build gnubg with little effort usin he whole ./configure,
./make process.

As for sound disabling the artsc and esd - this is not really an issue since
the OS/X builds utilize Apple Quicktime framework library for sound (A
couple of years ago I made significant mods to improve the build process to
build on OS/X/PPC). You can find my patches and mods in the CVS repository
history or the gnubg mailing list archives.

As for the most serious issue about packaging and deploying OS/X builds with
3D is that there is one very serious issue to overcome. Since at least
Panther with 0.14+ the Settings/Appearance pages that allow you to configure
3D will crash the build. Originally 3d builds worked but that changed when
the entire settings page was revamnped. You should find refernces to this
issue in the archives. I am not the only OS/X person who learned this. I
assume that it is still an issue.

If you refrain from using settings and options and enable 3d via the
.gnubgautorc you can play in 3D, although previous builds with FTGL etc
didn't always render the fonts on the cube properly - although I haven't
tried it since the changes that were made over the recent past to clean the
rendering up. I sue Gnubg for analysis and not playing - so the 3d issue is
irrelevent to me. I would also

I haven't had time to play with the CVS changes because of other commitments
but I can supply my configuration and header files and the contents of what
is installed from my Fink Distro if someone is interested. I can also
package up my current gnubg build directory if anyone would find it useful.
It was a version from CVS Head circa August/2005
