Hi there!

I assume you're on a Debian GNU/Linux system and want to compile from
source.

I believe you can use use the --without-x switch to configure to leave out
the graphic user interface in your build.

I must admit it's a long time since I've made Linux builds without the
graphic interface. You may be depending on the glib libraries even without
the GUI.

OTOH: If you just don't need the gui to do some simple scripting, I rather
suggest that you just start gnubg with the -t option to the command line.

Please report back if you get any trouble.
