Interesting observations. It's easy to be misled just by noting the
ratio between a2 and b.
However, I've got one comment...:
I've played 7,000+ games online and my average chequerplay error rate
and cube error rate are approximately of the same size, thus for yours
truly, the interesting ratio is a2/b which is in the range 15-25. An
alternative way to say the same is by noting that I give up 5-7 times
more equity in chequerplay errors than cube errors; the factor 5-7 is
then multiplied by your factor of 3.
The inevitable conclusion is that I should spend my time on improving my
chequer play decisions....
