No, I wasn't! I was using the Gentoo 0.14.2 ebuild.
Dowloading latest code from acepoint's home solved the 
problem (too bad I got a timeout error while trying to 
check out the CVS code). It is *very* slow although I have 
enabled the "quick draw" mode and the test report a very 
fast framerate (about 140), but I'm happy with it anyway - 
it must have something to do with X.

Thank you very much for your help, and, hey, what about a 
"donate" paypal button on the gnubg homepage?
I think many people will give some buck to the team. They 
are doing a beautiful job.
