I found and fixed it (I think, not tested under Win2k).
It was simply an empty string being passed to gettext(), which
translates to a lengthy description of the language file. Now I wonder
why my Unix boxes didn't have a problem with this. Does gtk-2.x resize
windows when you change labels and gtk-1.x not do so?
