After a closer look at the configure script I understand what was
going on. The output confused me since it goes as follows:
checking for freetype-config... /usr/bin/freetype-config
checking for FreeType - version >= 6.1.0... no
*** The FreeType test program failed to run. If your system uses
*** shared libraries and they are installed outside the normal
*** system library path, make sure the variable LD_LIBRARY_PATH
*** (or whatever is appropiate for your system) is correctly set.
I now understand that it's the second part (that the test compile
failed) that makes it report "no", and not freetype-config itself.
It did confuse me quite a bit since the user never sees the compile
error (which tells that #include <ft2build.h> fails).
I think the error message could've been better, but I also think it's
a minor issue and probably not something many people will encounter
anyway since the never RPMs should work perfectly, so please don't
spend time on it. :)
