please DON'T use my patch from 07/05/2008 10:23 PM UTC.
There is missing the case >>substr("", p, l)<<.
I' m really sorry for the shortcomings of my patch and
want to rework the complete patch at this weekend.

Have you decided about the handling of the other
warnings in the border cases?

Besides, your book "Linux Programming by Example" is really great.
Thank you very much for sharing your deep knowledge with us and for
