It's an important principle in Unix internationalization that the
list of locales is extensible.
I'm glad to hear it. I never guessed that, reading the description of
the codes being assigned from ISO standards, etc. I looked for
something in the manual like what you wrote about defining a new locale,
but didn't find it. Unless I missed it, it would be another thing that
would be nice to include.
I think the appendix "Language Codes" explains it all.
It does, thanks. But the issue is the explicit statement in the text
that ll is a *two* letter code. Given that statement, which seemed
completely clear and unambiguous, I didn't think of looking further, or
interpreting "two" as really meaning "two or three". So I still suggest
some change to help readers, whether the few extra words I sent before
or something else.
