i'm not trying to build in a windows environment so the configure script 
should execute just fine ... is there a reason this is not handled properly 
and having to do a bunch of manual steps are required ?  where's the fun in 
that ? :)

detecting build == linux (or any sane env) && target == mingw32 is trivial to 
do in a configure script
