That version of gawk is on the order of 10 years old.

The current version is 3.1.5. I highly recommend finding an executable
of this version, or building one from source code.

Of course, moving to a newer version of Windows such as Windows Server 2003
or Windows XP is also likely to be a good idea. (And moving to GNU/Linux or
some other Unix-like system is an even better one. :-)
