Indeed. Martin has re-invented the basic principle
of AWK: read the data line-wise, whatever the EOL
characters are.

AWK is most often presented to users as a variant
of SED. Therefore, most users dont know that AWK
has control-flow mechanisms. Maybe it would be better
if AWK was advertised as GREP-with-actions.
