I can recreate the problem as described with the latest released
version of diffutils-2.8.1 from ftp.gnu.org. But as you say it does
appear to be fixed in the latest testing version from alpha.gnu.org.
Are there any plans to officially release diffutils-2.8.7 in the near
future?
