FWIW, I think for a long time now that Grep ought to support all the 3
EOL formats on any OS, including on Unix and GNU/Linux systems.
Nowadays, with the proliferation of networked filesystems, one cannot
easily tell when the file you want to grep comes from a ``foreign''
OS.

However, at the time, I was unable to convince people involved in Grep
maintenance to agree with me and make something along the lines of
dosbuf.c part of Grep on all systems, and from Stepan's comments I see
that he is unwilling to do that as well.
