I'm writing to find out how to report problems I'm
having with ld. I'm not sure what kind of information or files I need to
send, but here's a real brief description:
I'm using Solaris 8 (SunOS 5.8). I have a
large program which uses many shared libraries. I get different results
depending on which ld I use:
Sun ld (from /usr/ccs/bin): executable works
fine
gnu ld (from binutils 2.13.2.1): no link
errors, but executable just reports "Illegal instruction"
gnu ld (from binutils 2.14): get several
"relocation truncated to fit R_SPARC_GOT13" errors. The .o that's called
out in the message comes from a third party, so I can't recompile
it.
